The following courses are part of our business skills seminars and are available to our clients through our bizNest Think Big Entrepreneur programs.

LEADERSHIP…mavericks of change

Course Outline: Leadership is a choice. It happens when someone steps up and causes a change to happen. It happens when someone en-rolls other people to help them make that change.

In this interactive program, Karl Gibbons will walk you through the steps to make the choice to lead. Attendees explore what the leadership choice is capable of accomplishing, what it means, and how to get there.

Attendees will learn how to:

• Distinguish between leaders and managers.

• Paint a picture of where they want their leadership journey to go, and motivate people to join you in their cause.

• Lead even when they don’t have formal authority.

The course is built around 12 surprising leadership principles that challenge conventional wisdom. Through a series of interactive exercises, Karl will introduce attendees to ideas that will help them lead people to a new galaxy of possibility.

Attendees learn why:

• Authority is different than responsibility

• Future change makers need to master leadership rather than management.

• New types of work demand new types of leadership.

This course is an active journey of self-reflection. Attendees should be prepared to roll up their sleeves and reflect on their priorities and the type of change they want to make, regardless of where they sit in an organization. They’ll leave the experience with a Leadership Notebook documenting their ideas for getting started.

Confident Communication – are they picking up on what you’re putting down?

Course Outline: In this interactive program attendees will learn how to develop and improve their communication skills, assertive behavior and team building skills, enabling them to set new horizons for themselves and others. Designed to be effective and practical, using “how to” techniques, developing not only the “skill to succeed,” but also the “will to win.” Group sizes are limited to 6 to enable individuals to realize their full potential and enhance their self-confidence and motivation, as well as learning together as part of a team, so as to develop long term networking and team building skills.

Networking – connecting the dots.

Course Outline: If you're in business you need all the clients you can get, am I right? If you want to do as well as possible in your professional career then you need to meet and engage with the right people, am I right? You know full well that networking can help you do this and that's why you're looking at this outline.

The real question is "Why aren't you networking effectively right now?"

• Does the very thought of networking straight-out terrify you?

• Do you have to network but don't know where to begin?

• Do you struggle to promote yourself and your business to others without feeling pushy?

• Do you hate “working the room" and meeting strangers?

Face to face business networking is a crucial part of any modern professional's skill set. You need to get new clients, progress your career and make money. You probably already know that referrals and recommendations are the best form of marketing. A survey by the WSJ established that 90% of B2B sales were as a result of networking proving it’s not what you know but who you know that matters. So why is there so much confusion and worry about professional networking? Why are you not actively business networking right now? Let's change that. This program will give you an essential overview, a networking strategy and some great tips and techniques. If you're in business you really should be networking effectively. The clock is ticking and if you aren't taking full advantage of the many networking opportunities available to you right now then you are leaving business and money on the table - money and business that someone else will get.

Screw You – Pay Me! How to get paid for the work you have done.

Course Outline: Most entrepreneurs – especially those in the B2B space, have found themselves saddled with a client who decides at the end of a project that they want to either renegotiate the terms of the deal or not pay at all. Excuses vary – from “We ended up not using the work” to “it’s really not what we were after”. Sound familiar?

Goals are Glib & Passion isn’t Perfect

Course Outline: Goals are glib. In a complex world, systems are better. Systems are something you do on a regular basis to increase your odds of success, and make yourself more valuable, without a specific goal. Passion isn’t perfect either. It doesn't predict success; it usually follows success. Success causes passion more than passion causes success. Successful people tell you passion was the key because any other answer makes them sound like jerks. (You can't say you're smarter than poor people, for example, even if you believe it.)

Quit & Get Rich

Course Outline: The best course of action for any entrepreneur in today's demanding and ever challenging business world is to learn how to quit fast. Yes that's right, quit and get rich! How does that work? Let’s take a look at some of the greatest quitters in business today: Bill Gates (Microsoft), Oprah Winfrey (HARPO) and Warren Buffett (Berkshire Hathaway). “Are you mad?” I hear you cry, “These are some of the most successful people in the history of business!” And you would be right. The reason they are so successful is that they are perfect examples of business quitters. Let me explain…………….

The Zebra Syndrome… is your business just one of the herd?

Course Outline: Zebras, after you've seen one you’ve seen ‘em all. Is your business just one of the herd? Every day, your prospects and clients see and ignore thousands of zebras – are they ignoring you? Discover how to cut your business from the herd and make your message memorable.
